It is now official: Donald J. Trump has been sworn in as the 45th president of the United States of America, and not a moment too soon.
After taking his oath of office, Trump delivered a short speech to the massive crowd gathered for the event, reiterating his campaign promises to place America first in all things and to bring about greater unity among the American people.
Following the conclusion of his speech and the rest of the ceremony, Trump took a moment to do what he arguably does best — take to social media to express his thoughts directly to the American people.
Adopting a well-received line from his own inaugural speech, Trump wrote of Facebook, “It is time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget: that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots!”
After having been posted for only an hour, Trump’s first Facebook update as president received more than 213,000 Likes and more than 19,000 shares.
Of the roughly 7,000 comments on the post, the majority of comments — and certainly the most popular ones — seemed to be congratulatory.
Trump’s inaugural speech stood in stark contrast to anything we have heard out of the White House over the past eight years, espousing an America First point of view that vastly differed from the globalist outlook preferred by former President Barack Obama.
Trump’s blunt call for unity among Americans of all political stripes and persuasions was also quite welcome after years of divisive White House rhetoric.
Hopefully Trump’s remarks will carry through as he embarks on the next four years of guiding America to greatness again.
